The panoramic view from the terraces of Villa Extramuros inspired the magazine Travel+Leisure, one of the world’s references in the tourism and hotel industry. After a visit last summer, the picture of our terrace on standard room n°4 was chosen to illustrate the cover of the February 2015 issue, as well as the article inside about the “Portugal’s small stylish hotels”. More pictures of Villa Extramuros can therefore be admired in the article, written by Richard Alleman, along with other tips about things to do in Alentejo and Portugal.

Air Canada launches this year a new flight from Toronto to Lisbon.

En Route, Air Canada’s on-board magazine, took celebrity designer Tommy Smythe on a hotel hop through the Lisbon countryside and Alentejo.

Villa Extramuros was one of the stops, Tommy loved the place, as he explained in the article, and En Route eventually showcased our patio for the cover of the July 2014 edition of the magazine. On board all Air Canada flights this summer.

 Villa Extramuros in Attitude’s special edition “Best of Portugal” 

The leading Portuguese lifestyle magazine Attitude had the excellent idea to edit a special edition showing the Best of Portugal’s creation, in terms of design, architecture, fashion, tourism, etc. This edition was issued in January 2013 and has been also published in many other countries over the last months. And we are proud at Villa Extramuros to see that our villa-hotel had been selected among the ones bringing added-value to Portugal in this early XXIst century. 

 Hotel & Lodge Best Design Hotel Award 2012 

Just before the New Year, the Villa Extramuros received the Award 2012 of the Best Design Hotel from the French magazine Hotel & Lodge. The choice of the independent jury of travel professionals was announced during a ceremony held at the Westin Paris on December 21st, and is now published in a special edition of Hotel & Lodge in January 2013.

We are extremely proud to see our villa-hotel awarded and its particular style and original architecture recognized among worldwide prestigious competitors.

 Villa Extramuros with writer José Luis Peixoto on board TAP inflight magazine Up 

Up, the inflight magazine of the portuguese airline TAP , invited the young writer José Luis Peixoto to Arraiolos for a “perfect weekend”, in its edition of June 2012. The Villa Extramuros was the hosting place during the trip, and, after José luis visited the main places of interest in the region, as well as the good tables, some photos in the report show him relaxing at night in our “beanbags” on the terraces. He also seems to have enjoyed the breakfast, in the company of our cat Toto.

 Villa Extramuros among the “good spots” of the French magazine “The Good life” 

The French trendy news and lifestyle magazine The Good Life regularly publishes its list of favorite cool hotels in the world : the good spots. The Villa Extramuros appears among the good spots in the edition n° 3  (May/june 2012) and was described as an “oasis of calm and refinement just one hour from Lisbon and next to Evora”. 

 Villa Extramuros on TV Channel SIC Noticias 

The Villa Extramuros was filmed by the portuguese TV channel SIC Noticias, in the frame of the broadcast “Espaços e Casas” dedicated to architecture and construction.

Our architects Jordi Fornells and Rolf Heinemann were interviewed about the architectural project, by the journalist Marisa Antunes for SIC and for the portuguese weekly Expresso.  

This release on SIC was followed on April 21 by an article in the newspaper Expresso.

 First press publication, in “Arquitectura y Diseño” december 2011 

The Villa Extramuros appears in the december issue of “Arquitectura y Diseño”, the spanish architecture and design review based in Barcelona. Under the headline “Encanto bucolico del sur” (Bucolic charm of the South), 18 pages of photos and text describe and reveal the Villa for the first time to the public, shot in the still warm sun of portuguese autumn.
